Dr. Junichiro Kono, Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Professor of Physics and Astronomy has been elected fellow by the Council of the American Physical Society (APS) “for contributions to optical processes in semiconductor nanostructures, including magneto-optical studies of Aharonov-Bohm physics in carbon nanotubes.” The peer-reviewed election to APS Fellowship in the division of Condensed Matter Physics is a distinctive recognition of Kono’s outstanding contributions to physics. The fellowship citation will be published in the March 2010 issue of APS News and announced on http://www.aps.org. He will receive a fellowship certificate at the annual meeting of the sponsoring division, Condensed Matter Physics.

Current research in the Kono Laboratory focuses on the fundamental physics of semiconductor nanostructures and carbon nanomaterials.
